Why ceramic tint is worth it in Medford's climate

Standard dyed window tint blocks light but does very little to block heat — which is why it fades to purple in two summers in Southern Oregon. Ceramic window film uses microscopic ceramic particles to reject infrared heat without blocking visibility, GPS, cell, or remote signals. The difference inside a car parked outside in 100°F Medford heat is dramatic, and the film never fades because the color is in the ceramic itself, not a dye.

Oregon tint law — explained

In Oregon, passenger vehicles must allow at least 35% VLT (visible light transmission) on the driver and front passenger windows, and at least 70% on the windshield (an 8-inch visor strip is the exception). Rear side windows and the back glass can be any darkness on SUVs, trucks, and vans, and any darkness on sedans as long as you have side mirrors. We will not install illegal tint on a front side window — getting pulled over for tint is a fix-it ticket no one wants. We walk every customer through the law during the consultation.

Films we install

Our standard offering is a true ceramic film (premium tier) — best heat rejection, best clarity, no signal interference, lifetime warranty. We also offer a carbon film tier for budget-conscious customers who still want a film that won't fade. We do not install dyed-only films. All windows on a full-vehicle install use the same shade so the vehicle looks factory.

Tint + PPF + ceramic — the complete protection stack

Many Medford clients book all three services together: PPF on the high-impact body panels, ceramic coating on top of paint and PPF, and ceramic window tint on every glass surface. Bundling all three saves significant time vs. spreading the work over multiple visits and qualifies for our package pricing.

Our Process in Medford

From consultation to pickup — what to expect at our 2718 W Main St studio.

1. Film & VLT consultation

We walk you through Oregon window tint law (35% on front side windows, any darkness on rear) and the difference between dyed, carbon, and ceramic films so you choose the right product the first time.

2. Deep glass clean & prep

Every window is razor-cleaned and detailed inside and out. Particles trapped under film are the #1 reason tint jobs look bad — we eliminate them at the source.

3. Computer-cut + steam-shrunk install

Patterns plotted to your exact vehicle and shrunk to the contour of the glass before installation. No razors near your defroster lines, ever.

4. Cure & quality check

Most installs are ready same day. We recommend leaving windows up for 3–5 days while the film fully cures. Lifetime warranty registered before you leave.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does window tint cost in Medford?

Full vehicle ceramic tint typically ranges from $450 (sedans) to $850+ (large SUVs, Teslas, trucks with rear sliding glass). Single-window and visor strip pricing is also available.

Is window tint legal in Oregon?

Yes — within limits. Front side windows must allow at least 35% VLT. Rear windows can be any darkness on most vehicles. We explain the rules and install legal tint, period.

How long does the installation take?

Full-vehicle ceramic tint is typically a same-day install (3–4 hours). We schedule one vehicle at a time so quality never gets rushed.

Will tint interfere with my defroster, GPS, or cell signal?

No. Our ceramic films are non-metallic and signal-transparent. We hand-trim around defroster lines — no razors touch them.
